Kein Coaster
Branding
Kein Coaster brews German style beers in Chicago, Illinois. Kein translates to “No” in German, conveying that the beer is so good you won’t put it down. The primary goal was to join American heritage with a minimalist German design approach.
This logo project is for my brother’s microbrewery. His attention to quality control extends to recreating water properties to a specific region and time. The Americana typeface pays homage to our grandfather, who co-owned a dairy farm (I was able to dig up a photo of his storefront from the 1950s). The vintage milk carton shown in the hero is a direct thread to our roots as a family. This works as a great mechanism to not only serve drinks, but to also recognize the challenge of being respected as an authentic American brand that brews German beers.
